MSc Dissertation Examination @ RG-QOE

Ana Margarida Dias, member of the Research Group on Quality and Organizational Excellence (RG-QOE) and student of the Master Program on Quality Engineering and Management (MEGQ) presented her Master Dissertation last February 23.

The dissertation entitled “A Capability Roadmap towards Quality 4.0” was supervised by Professor Paulo Sampaio. The examination was performed by Professor Francisco Duarte (examiner from Department of Information Systems).

Ana Margarida Dias was approved with a grade of 19 out of 20.

QOE @ IEEM2021

The Research Group on Quality and Organizational Excellence (RG-QOE) was represented by Catarina Cubo and Mónica Cabecinhas at the IEEE International Conference on Industrial Engineering ane Engineering Management (IEEM) 2021 that took place virtually between December 13 and 16. Catarina Cubo and Mónica Cabecinhas participated in the “Quality Control and Management 2” session on last December 15.

Mónica Cabecinhas, PhD Student and member of the RG-QOE, presented the paper entitled “A Model to Assess the Impacts of ISO Management Systems Standards”, co-authored by Paulo Sampaio and Martí Casadesús.

Catarina Cubo, PhD Student and member of the RG-QOE, presented the paper entitled “Multiscale Quality: Micro, Meso and Macro Concepts”, co-authored by Paulo Sampaio and Pedro Saraiva.

QOE @ CAQ Symposium

Paulo Sampaio, Coordinator of the Research Group on Quality and Organizational Excellence (RG-QOE) delivered a keynote speech entitled “The Role of Quality in Digital Transformation” at the 2021 China Association for Quality (CAQ) Annual Conference last December 02, that took place virtually.

The conference’s theme was “Embracing Digital Transformation, Promoting Quality Innovation, Pursuing Continuous Excellence”.

QOE @ 45.º Colóquio da Qualidade

The Research Group on Quality and Organizational Excellence (RG-QOE) was represented by Catarina Cubo, Mónica Cabecinhas, Paulo Sampaio and Raíssa Heringer at the 45.º Colóquio da Qualidade.

The 45th edition of the event took place in Lisbon, Portugal last November 11, which was the World Quality Day, and it was dedicated to “Qualidade na era da transformação digital”.

Paulo Sampaio, Coordinator of the RG-QOE, was Chair of the Organizing Committee and he was the moderator of the round table session “O papel da Qualidade na transformação digital das organizações portuguesas”.

Catarina Cubo, Mónica Cabecinhas and Raíssa Heringer delivered presentations in the parallel session about MSc dissertations and PhD thesis projects.

Mónica Cabecinhas, PhD Student and member of the RG-QOE, delivered a presentation entitled “Modelo para analisar o impacto da implementação dos sistemas de gestão no âmbito das normas ISO 9001 e ISO 14001”.

Raíssa Heringer, MSc Student and member of the RG-QOE, delivered a presentation entitled “A Relação entre Qualidade e Inovação nas Empresas”.

Catarina Cubo, PhD Student and member of the RG-QOE, delivered a presentation entitled “A qualidade multidimensional e as medições da qualidade nas organizações”.

Furthermore, Catarina Cubo was awarded with the “Best PhD presentation”.

QOE @ FestQuali 2021

Cátia Pinto, PhD student and member of the Research Group on Quality and Organizational Excellence (RG-QOE), delivered a speech entitled “Qualidade na indústria têxtil: certificações do produto” at the FestQuali last November 08, that took place virtually.

FestQuali is the main quality and innovation event in Brazil and took place during the World Quality Month (08-10 November), both in Salvador, Bahia and virtually. This year’s theme was “Sustainability: improving our products, people and planet”.

QOE @ Excellence Through Quality webinar

André M. Carvalho, Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave and Research Affiliate of the Research Group on Quality and Organizational Excellence (RG-QOE), delivered a speech entitled “Resistir e prosperar em ambientes cada vez mais incertos e complexos” in the webinar “Excellence through Quality”, last November 02, that took place virtually.

This webinar was promoted by APCER and aimed to discuss quality and excellence topics and their influence to organizations’ performance and sustainability. The webinar is available on APCER YouTube channel.

André M. Carvalho distinguished as Rising Star 2021 by ASQ

 André M. Carvalho, Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave and Research Affiliate of the Research Group on Quality and Organizational Excellence (RG-QOE), was selected as a Rising Start 2021 by ASQ among 40 quality professionals under 40 in the ASQ flagship publication – Quality Progress.

This was the third time ASQ had recognized a class of young and standout quality professionals from all corners of the world with a great relationship with quality.
