RG-QOE organized the 5th International Conference on Quality Engineering and Management

The fifth edition of the International Conference on Quality Engineering and Management (ICQEM) took place at the University of Minho on July 14 and 15.

This conference is an international forum to present and discuss the progress and recent evolutions in the fields of Quality Management, Quality Engineering and Organizational Excellence.

This edition was focused on “Quality in the digital transformation”. Nicole Radziwill (Digital Quality Leadership: The Long Game), Carlos Ribas (Quality4.0 @ Bosch), Josef Oehmen (Quality in the Age of Uncertainty: What we can learn from resilience thinking) and Mareike Möhlmann (Algorithmic Management of Work on Online Labor Platforms: When Matching Meets Control) were the keynote speakers of the conference.

More than 100 proposals were submitted and almost 90 were accepted for presentation, after revision by the Conference Scientific Committee.

The best paper award was "The Challenges of Remote Work to the Development of a TQM Culture" by Patrícia Moura e Sá.

The best student paper award was "Product complexity and quality in assembly processes: state of the art and challenges for industrial HRC" by Matteo Capponi (PhD student), Luca Mastrogiacomo, Dario Antonelli and Fiorenzo Franceschini.

Further, the novelty of this edition were two masterclasses performed on July 13 by Jorge J. Roman (Building a Quality & Digital Transformation Strategy) and the Obeikan Investment Group (Experience the Future of Smart Manufacturing…Obeikan Digital Product for Industry 4.0) by Abdallah Obeikan, Saber Atiyeh, and Khaled Hassan.

Paulo Sampaio @ FMH Seminar

Paulo Sampaio, Coordinator of the Research Group on Quality and Organizational Excellence, delivered a webinar entitled “Quality and the Digital Transformation” last June 30. 

This seminar was organized by the Faculdade de Motricidade Humana – FMH, from the University of Lisbon.

Pedro Domingues @ Universidad de Monterrey - UDEM, Mexico

Pedro Domingues, PhD Senior Researcher at the Research Group on Quality and Organizational Excellence (RG-QOE), visited the Universidad de Monterrey – UDEM, Mexico, between June 06 and 10, through the International Credit Mobility UMOVE (ME) program.

Pedro Domingues had the opportunity to network and deliver lectures to the UDEM academic community. Furthermore, he delivered two workshops, entitled “Shortcomings of traditional Quality approach and the Emergence of Quality 4.0” and “Skills and competencies of the Quality Leader of the 21st century”.

Presentation of QOE PhD student in the 2022 DPISE workshop

The Doctoral Program in Industrial and Systems Engineering (DPISE) Workshop took place on May 31, in Guimarães, Campus of Azurém, University of Minho.

This annual event intends to share the work that is currently being developed by the PhD students of this doctoral program. For the second time, participants were also invited to submit a virtual poster to the DPISE best poster award. The RG-QOE was represented by Catarina Cubo.

Pedro Domingues, PhD, Senior Researcher of the Research Group on Quality and Organizational Excellence (RG-QOE), was visiting the University of Gabes, Tunisie, between May 23 and 27, through the International Credit Mobility UMOVE (ME) program.

Pedro Domingues had the opportunity to share some insights and to attend some meetings. Further, he delivered two workshops, entitled “Shortcomings of traditional Quality approach and the Emergence of Quality 4.0” and “Skills and competencies of the Quality Leader of the 21st century”.
